Onsite Company Representative for Drillling Services

The purpose of this contract is to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Operating Company Representative (OCR) to act as OCR for the drilling and completion of twelve (12) water monitoring bores at Hopeland, Queensland. Each project is being undertaken by a Drilling Contractor who has engaged the associated sub-contractors required to complete the works. The Drilling Contractor is also the Principal Contractor (PC) as per the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act). Plugging and Abandonment activities may also be occurring simultaneously.

The OCR will be expected to oversee the construction (including completion and limited coring) of twelve (12) groundwater monitoring bores and a potentially concurrent or sequential Plug and Abandonment program. The groundwater monitoring bores will be sunk into potentially gaseous formations and potentially fractured geological strata including:

  • The construction (including drilling, casing running, cementing and limited coring) of groundwater monitoring bores to depths of approximately 140m and 120m
  • The completion (including perforation, bore development, downhole pump and pressure gauge installation) of groundwater monitoring bores to depths of approximately 140m and 120m
  • Wireline operations using a variety of equipment to collect geo-physical information
  • Plug and Abandonment operations as per approved designs (supplied by DNRME)

The Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) have a number of wells and historic bores associated with Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) activities to be plugged and abandoned. During the development period on the site five (5) Gasifiers were developed in the below ground coal seam (Approximately 138 meters below surface). Some of the wells associated with UCG operations were decommissioned completely and some of them require additional works. Designs have been procured to guide the P&A process and the OCR will be responsible for overseeing this program as well.

All work will be performed under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act).

DNRME will contract Drilling Rig, Workover Rig, Coil Tubing Unit, Cementing Unit and Wireline Unit as required to execute the above program of works as per supplied designs.
