Supply and Application of Soil Binder

A supplier is sought to supply and apply a soil binder to the exposed tailings for the purposes of physically stabilising the dried tailings against wind and water erosion for an intended lifespan of 12 months (when not disturbed).

The exposed area to be treated is approximately 50,000 m2. The nature of the tailings beach sand is generally considered sufficiently stable for 4WD vehicle access, however the surface integrity is inconsistent and unpredictable with potential saturated solids located under the beach sand. This may prove to be a limitation for heavy vehicles. As a result, the supplier is to take this into consideration. The supplier is responsible for both the technique of application and vehicles utilised. The technique of application shall be in line with the manufacturers guidelines ensuring an effective application. A site visit can be arranged for inspection of the application area for assessment.

Anticipated effective lifespan, product suitability and ability to bind the tailings, proposed application methods and past experience of a similar nature are to be detailed in the suppliers response.

The Supplier must prepare an Application Plan for approval by the Customer prior to commencement of application.  The Application Plan must include the following elements:

  • Health, Safety and Environment Plan;
  • Personnel accreditations and licences (where relevant);
  • The Works Program
