Preliminary Radiological Survey

The Minjerribah Contamination Strategy notes that there is land on Minjerribah that is not covered by a Mining Lease (currently or previously) and is known to have historically been subject to activities which were authorised at the time and may have resulted in contamination of localised areas. Many of these activities have occurred on State land.

To understand any mining related impacts to land in Dunwich, the State is seeking to identify the nature and extent of mining related contamination on State Land in order to ensure there are no unacceptable ongoing risks to people and the environment and support the delivery of commitments under the Economic Transition Strategy and Indigenous Land Use Agreement.

The purpose of this Scope of Works is to instigate a radiation hazard assessment of parcels of land in and around Dunwich that have been identified as having a high likelihood of exposure to radiation sources either through direct material storage and stockpiling activities or as a result of indirect natural deposition processes.

To support this purpose, an experienced Supplier, suitably qualified under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (the EP Act), is being sought to undertake an assessment to determine the extent of any radiological contaminants present on the included land.
