Invitation to Submit a Tender

Re:   Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) (N27 & N75) (Mechanical), Nathan campus

You are invited to submit a tender to refurbish existing Mechanical systems and install Chiller plant at Griffith Institute of Drug Discover Building 1 (referenced as GRIDD 1), Building N27 at Nathan campus, Griffith University. Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery Building 1 is a Building where specialised experiments and research is undertaken.

The Mechanical systems on the western wing of N27 are currently being serviced by an air-cooled chiller that is approximately 20 years old and at end of its serviceable and economic life. It is currently unable to meet peak summer demand and service both Physical Containment (PC2) Chemical and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Laboratories.

A fit-for-purpose new chiller unit with system updates, will be installed outside the building in a purpose-built enclosure allowing for easy maintenance, seamless cutover and potential future removal/ reuse if N27 is decommissioned.

Griffith University has commenced the procurement of the Carrier Chiller 30RBP-0360 Air Cooled scroll chiller set, which will be novated to the successful tenderer upon tender engagement, ready for delivery to site on Friday 24 April 2020. The intent is that Griffith University engage a Mechanically focused Contractor to act as the Principal Contractor, prior to the date nominated for Chiller delivery. This Principal Contractor will be responsible for the engagement of individuals to complete the associated builders works which is not within the licenced skill set of the Tenderer, with certification provided upon completion.

The MANDATORY SITE VISIT will be on Monday 9 March 2020 at 2:00pm. No additional costs will be approved by the Superintendent or paid by the Principal due to any failure on your part to appreciate the extent of the project and its impact on adjacent buildings or facilities, or to evaluate any constraints on access to the site of the works.

The Tender documents are identified within the drawing transmittal.

Tenders close at on Thursday 2 April 2020 at 1:00pm via the QTenders link 2601160188BCONSCAP1 associated with this project in accordance with the Conditions of Tender.  A Tender submitted late or by any other means than that nominated may not be accepted. Please note that Tenders will not be opened publicly.

Possession of site will be from the date of the Letter of Acceptance unless noted otherwise.

The successful contractor will be appointed as the Principal Contractor and will negotiate access to the site with the Superintendent and campus representatives. Access is to be maintained to all areas of the campus during construction.

Yours sincerely,
