The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) provides health services to people living in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, the hospital is located at Chermside and forms part of The Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS).
The Operating Theatre Department at TPCH consists of 12 operating theatres and specialises in complex specialist heart and lung services with 7 rooms currently being used as storage of sterile stock.
An engineering assessment of the HVAC system that caters to the Operating Theatres Department at TPCH identified non-compliances with AS4187, AS1668.2 and AUSHFG with most of the Sterile Stock rooms. There is also an impetus for compliance with AS4187 before the end of the calendar year 2021.
The high-level project scope includes:
Stage 1 - Construction of a new plant room on the roof slab above the Operating Theatres Department and replacement of large multi-zone AHU
Stage 2 - Reconfiguration and refurbishment of Main Sterile Store 2, Pharmacy and Perfusion Setup
Stage 3 – Refurbishment of existing Main Sterile Store 1
