Landform Design Services

The intent of this stage of the landform design services is to complete field investigation, analysis and assessment in order to adequately define the project scope and design basis to enable the final detailed closure design to be developed. Investigation works are to be conducted across both the Goondicum and Dakiel sites. Indicative works shall include:

  • Test pitting and boreholes;
  • Geotechnical investigation;
  • Geochemical investigation;
  • Soil sampling and analysis for contamination and soil erodibility;
  • Bathymetric survey;
  • Slope stability assessment;
  • Assessment of site contamination;
  • Revised earthworks modelling and preparation of preliminary design drawings;
  • Rehabilitation planning;
  • Capping design, if applicable. Capping requirement to be determined through this investigation stage. Assessment and consideration to date has identified a low likelihood of capping being required.
  • Revision of capital cost estimate based on defined project scope;
  • Scope and fee estimate for Stage 4 Detailed Design;
  • Basis of design for Stage 4 Detailed Design;
  • Any other works deemed necessary to enable and inform detailed design requirements.

Intrusive works must be staged and completed at Goondicum first and Dakiel second. All equipment, vehicles and machinery must be free of weed seed and any other pest material before accessing either site. Weed hygiene declarations for all plant and equipment must be available for review upon request.

For reference to the Dakiel site, the underlying land owner wants the existing concrete hardstands, sediment dam and fencing to remain for his use post formal site handover. As a result, investigations at the Dakiel site are to generally focus on the former thickener process area, sediment dam and bulk LPG storage area.

Parthenium, a Weed of National Significance, is known to be present in the general Dakiel area. Suppliers and their contractors must implement appropriate weed hygiene procedures to manage such risk.
