The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals for a Waste Acceptance Criteria Critical Review.
The Department is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to review how landfills are regulated from a waste acceptance criteria perspective and compare the department’s current approach with modern best practice in landfill regulation.
If the review identifies the current approach is not in line with best practice, the Department is seeking recommendations on how to improve the regulatory framework as well as information on potential perverse outcomes associated with regulatory change. The Department is also seeking a process and guidance material to assist in managing, from a waste acceptance criteria perspective, emerging contaminants and other chemicals that may become a concern in the future.
In addition, the Department is also seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to review how other jurisdictions in Australia regulate stockpiles at landfills. The review will identify any documents, investigations or reports used by those jurisdictions to inform the development of guidance material and conditions to manage stockpiles.
