Dedicated Mobile Support - Women and their children accommodated in affordable head lease accommodation (Moreton Bay)
The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (formerly the Department of Housing and Public Works) is working with several community housing providers (CHPs) across South East Queensland to source suitable properties and provide supportive tenancy management.
The affordable housing funding is expected to provide for approximately 55-65 properties in high need South East Queensland locations, primarily Brisbane and Gold Coast, as well as Moreton Bay and other locations to be identified. Dedicated Mobile Support
To support clients transitioning into these tenancies, the Queensland Government is seeking offers for the delivery of targeted mobile support. Implementation Status – Moreton Bay
Funding to CHPs to facilitate head leases and provide tenancy management is being rolled out in a staged process. The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy will form a contract with a suitable CHP to undertake this work in Moreton Bay, facilitating approximately 8 head leases for up to 18 months. It is anticipated head leases will be in place by 31 December 2020.
It is expected the new mobile support provider will take on a primary support role for most women and their children housed through the initiative. This means the new worker/s providing support will work with existing services providing interim support to facilitate handover of case management, with the new worker/s taking on longer-term holistic support.
