Invitation to Submit a Tender - Science Enabling Works Package A - Engineering, Technology and Aviation Building (N79) L1 Room 1.04 Refurbishment, Nathan campus

INVITATION TO SUBMIT A TENDER

You are invited to submit a Tender for the execution and completion of the works described below in accordance with the Drawings and Specification (if any) supplied herewith, the Griffith University Conditions of Tender & Conditions of Contract for ‘Minor Works’ herein, and any other information issued by the Principal for the purposes of tendering.

Description of Works:
The scope of work requires the refurbishment of room 1.04 which is located on Level 1 of Building N79 (Nathan Campus) as part of the Science Early Works (SEW) decant N13. This will allow for the relocation of three of the Sciences Groups, namely SHub, PASS and WIL groups, to decant out of their current locations on campus in N13.
The user groups require 3-offices, a secure reception/waiting area, a meeting room and 15 new and four reconfigured workstations, all as detailed and described on the documents identified on the Transmittal Notice.
The current office accommodation in room 1.04 is very new, and all furniture not identified as being re-used or reconfigured shall be offered back to the university’s facility teams for collection or redistributed to other areas on campus or other Griffith University campuses.
One of the adjoining spaces to room 1.04 is a Disaster and Resilience Management Facility [D&RMF] (effectively an incident room). These spaces need to remain accessible for the duration of the works and any isolation of services needs to be managed to minimise the impact on the use of the spaces accordingly.
The other adjoining rooms will also be required to have free access during the time of construction.

Tenderers shall note the following:

  • Tenders shall close at:

QTenders

  • Closing date and time for the receipt of the tender is:

Date: Friday, 24 September 2021
Time: 1.00 PM

  • The Contract is a Lump Sum Fixed Price not subject to adjustment for rise and fall in costs.
  • Tenders shall remain valid for 30 calendar days.
  • The tenders will not be opened publicly.
  • Tenders will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria and weightings, and tenderers are required to address these criteria in their tender submission;
  • Construction program (20%) – A construction program is to be issued with the submission, based on access during normal working hours, with noisy works being performed out of hours. Clearly show any long lead-in items and any off-site procurement timeframes together with shutdown notifications of a minimum of 2 weeks.
  • Contractors Key resources (20%) – Provide names and qualifications of proposed site management and support staff together with details of any previous experience working on a University campus. GU reserves the right to reject any nominated person and request an alternative nomination.
  • Construction Methodology (20%) – Clearly identify the Construction Methodology based on previous works performed adjacent to occupied teaching spaces and occupied buildings of similar size. Demonstrate how works will be performed out of hours where required and completed to the satisfaction of the Superintendent.
  • Price (40%) – Tenderers are to complete Form of Tender and Form of Tender - Appendix 1.

It is recommended that you visit the site of the proposed project prior to submitting your Tender, as no additional costs will be approved by the Superintendent or paid by the Principal due to any failure on your part to appreciate the extent of the project and its impact on adjacent buildings or facilities or to evaluate any constraints on access to the site of the works.

Site walkthroughs will be held on the below dates for 1 hour. Please RSVP 24 hours before the nominated time/date to the Project Manager. The meeting point will be on Level 1 Foyer of N79. Please ensure all subcontractors are accompanied by their respective builders.

  • Thursday 9 September 2021 (11:30am Sharp)
  • Wednesday 15 September 2021 (11:00am Sharp)
  • Tuesday 21 September 2021 (11:00am Sharp)

Additional site visits can be arranged with the Project Manager previously nominated who must accompany you on any inspection of a site on the University’s campuses.

Please note due to pre-bookings of the space that the actual on-site start date will commence on Wednesday 20 October 2021. It is expected that the successful contractor will commence ordering of items with long lead times and start the shop drawing process while the start on site date is delayed.

Any queries relating to the tender documents including drawings and specifications (if any) shall be submitted by the QTenders link associated with this project. Requests for site access for an inspection should be directed to the PD&C Project Manager, Rob Palmer on Mobile 0466 307 583 or Email r.palmer@griffith.edu.au.
