| In early 2023, TMR in partnership with the Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) completed the Central Gold Coast East-West Public Transport Study (CGCE-WPTS). The primary aim was to improve east-west public transport (PT) connections for customers between the heavy and light rail services in the central Gold Coast. This study can be used as a strategic guide for future transport and land use planning undertaken by TMR/GCCC. The study identified a systems strategy, strategic priority corridors and interchanges for PT services within the study area. The Nerang to Broadbeach (NER-BB) and Robina to Miami (ROB-MI) were selected as priority east-west high-frequency PT routes for further investigation.
In July 2023, the NER-BB route Strategic Assessment of Service Requirements (SASR) was endorsed to proceed through Gate 1 under the Project Assurance Framework (PAF) process. The SASR identified key problems and causal factors and developed strategic (priority) needs and service requirements for the route. The NER-BB PT route is now being progressed through PAF to the PE phase. This commissions seeks to secure technical and commercial services to deliver the required PAF documentation in a format that is suitable for a potential Infrastructure Australia (IA) submission.
The successful offeror will be required to undertake a series of options analyses on the NER-BB PT route to identify and progress initiatives for short to medium term staged delivery of a high frequency bus service and supporting infrastructure prior to 2031.
