Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland.  The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports.

PN owns and maintains the Smith’s Creek No.1 Wharf, which consists of a reinforced concrete deck supported on steel piles. Protection to the steel piles is provided by sacrificial anodes (below water) and protective wrap systems (tidal zone and higher). In 2019 the wrap systems were repaired on the upper portion of the pile.
The proposed scope works for this project is to remove the existing wrap system below the 2019 repairs, inspect the piles and the re-apply the wrap system to the steel piles. There are approximately 32 piles that require inspection and treatment.

PN has adopted the use of Denso products to protect these steel piles. PN will provide the necessary materials to undertake the works.

The wharf is located in an operational area of the port. Safety, methodology and programming will be critical to the successful delivery of the project.

Ports North invites tenders from suitably qualified and available Contractors, with appropriate experience in the preparation and quality application of Denso systems for the delivery of this project.
