Tender Overview

The Queensland Government has committed to ‘Backing Queensland Maritime Jobs.’ This commitment aims to revitalise and strengthen coastal shipping and create sustainable maritime jobs in Queensland to contribute to employment growth and economic well-being.

The commitment includes partnering with industry to:

  1. Deliver increased maritime employment, potentially through establishing coastal shipping services or other innovative approaches.
  2. Create increased maritime employment for the Queensland workforce with existing operators in Queensland.

To achieve these aims the Department of Transport and Main Roads through Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) seeks information from commercial entities about the creation of maritime jobs through the provision of coastal shipping services in Queensland, the creation of maritime jobs within existing maritime operations or the creation of maritime jobs in some other way. This Market Sounding invitation seeks to understand the market capability and potential approaches to achieving the Backing Queensland Maritime Jobs objectives. The information gained through Market Sounding will inform future procurement process and ensure the process is focussed to achieve the service delivery objectives and desired outcomes.

Submissions to the market sounding for ‘Backing Queensland Maritime Jobs’ will remain open until 5pm, 9 February 2022.  Enquiries about the market sounding invitation should be directed to the Contact Officer at BQMJ@msq.qld.gov.au.
