Tender Overview

Commercial Roadside Facility and Driver Rest Area

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) intends to release an Expression of Interest (EOI) to develop commercial roadside fuel facilities (CRF) and associated driver rest area (DRA) facilities on a large parcel of TMR land at Murarrie identified as Lot 3 on SP229591.

The EOI has not been released at this time. When released, it will provide interested parties time to consider the opportunity and respond.

Subject to TMR receiving interest from the market and TMR assessing Proponent’s responses, shortlisted Proponents will be offered an opportunity to develop their concepts and provide a more detailed response as part of a subsequent Invitation to Offer (ITO) process.

TMR will consider proposals on the basis of a long-term lease or freehold tenure arrangement for the land.

Subject to a preferred proponent being identified through the subsequent ITO process, TMR will negotiate an agreement with the proponent that provides for the development of the CRF and DRA.

TMR’s focus in progressing the opportunity is to provide facilities in a convenient location which encourage drivers to break their journey and rest. This aims to directly target driver fatigue and improve road safety outcomes.

The EOI will be released through the Queensland Government QTenders website. Please note that the TMR Tender Moratorium Policy restricts procurement activities over the Christmas and New Year period, with no tenders to be released between 11 December 2019 and 10 January 2020.
