PN0674 - Timber Fender Pile Replacement

Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities under Ports North ownership and management in Cairns and its regional ports, including the Port of Thursday Island.

The Thursday Island Main Wharf requires timber fender pile replacements. Ports North has procured the timber piles and will provide the piles for the works.

The scope of works includes the removal of timber fender piles that are no longer suitable for use. A minimum of four and up to eleven timber fender piles shall be replaced. The method for supporting and securing the new fender pile shall be similar to the systems that are presently in place on the wharves. All required materials (other than the timber fender pile) shall be provided by the Contractor and shall be new materials matching or superior to the existing materials supporting the existing piles.
