Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports. PN owns and maintains the Dual Barge Ramps located on Smith’s Creek in the Cairns Seaport. There is a concrete jetty at the Dual barge Ramps that consists of a concrete deck on steel headstocks supported by steel piles. The steel headstocks and the steel piles are corroding above the waterline and the existing protective coatings are no longer effective. The works being tendered include surface preparation and application of paint coatings to 3 headstocks and 6 steel piles from mid-tide level to the top of the pile. The works may involve repairs to the steelwork that will include welding and steel plate replacement or compensation plates. The jetty is adjacent to an operational barge ramp with existing services in place. Safety, methodology and programming will be critical to the successful delivery of the project. The works will require provision of appropriate access and environmental controls for works in such tidal zones. Ports North invites tenders from suitably qualified and available Contractors, with appropriate experience in the preparation for, and application of, high quality marine paint systems for the delivery of this project. |
