Tender Overview

The Queensland Government is seeking proposals on behalf of the Department of Environment and Science for a suitably qualified contractor to complete upgrades to existing infrastructure on the Low Island. Low Island is in Trinity Bay, approximately 15 km north east of Port Douglas and 60 km north of Cairns (16º 23' 02.6” s and 145º 33' 35.58” e). Immediately to its east is Woody Island and together these islands are known as the Low Isles. The Low Isles are Commonwealth Heritage listed places (ID#105367) and have a diversity of Indigenous, historic and natural heritage values of which the department has a responsibility to identify, protect and conserve. The related site infrastructure, flora and fauna must not be adversely affected during or after the construction process with a cautious approach mandatory, changing as much as necessary but as little as possible.

It has been identified that the works required to be undertaken are:

Assistant Lighthouse Keepers Residence

  • Full deck refurbishment on one (1) residence;
  • Full roof removal and replacement on one (1) residence including solar panel removal and reinstatement and solar hot water system removal and replacement.

Suppliers are required to attend a mandatory designated site visit to ensure they have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements to accurately respond to the Request for Quote and deliver this project.
