Tender Overview

James Cook University (JCU) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Principal Contractors for the construction of the Technology Innovation Complex (TIC) at the JCU Campus, Douglas, Townsville. The TIC will be situated within the epicentre of the vast health and knowledge TropIQ precinct, the TIC and Ideas Market site fronts Mount Stuart Street to the north and the Townsville Student Accommodation project to the west. Construction is to be procured via shortlisting of EOI respondents and a competitive fixed price lump sum tender.

The TIC is a 9,400m2, 5 level ‘Studio’ where research and industry collaboration, innovation and research supports local business – specifically STEM, big data and analytics, information technology and technology transformation. The project will be targeting a LEED Gold sustainability rating and has also registered to target a WELL rating. The Technology Innovation Complex will be a specialised facility for teaching, research education and research activity in Engineering, Physical Science and Information Technology disciplines

The TIC is being funded through the Federal Government NAIF. Compliance with relevant conditions in the Australian Industry Participation Plan (AIPP) and the Indigenous Engagement Strategy (IES) are required by the Principal Contractor as a result of this funding agreement. This Federal component also triggers the Code for Tendering and Building Performance of Building Work 2019.
