The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals fromCommercial fisherman with experience in the black jewfish fishery to undertake Black jewfish biological sampling.
Black jewfish sampling will be required each month and collections will be required for 10 months of the year that are closed to fishing the species (e.g. all months excluding January and February). Fishing activity will commence on a negotiated month in late 2020 and continue until late 20201.

In their Offered region, vessels must be skippered by experienced persons, be suitable for the area of operation and the intended sampling plan for that area (day trips, overnight trips etc).
Offerers must have the ability to operate within the Mackay (For Area 1) and Gladstone or Yeppoon areas (for Area 2) on a monthly basis. The Offeror, must also demonstrate a sound fisheries compliance history due to black jewfish being a high priority black market species.
