Ports North (PN) is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports. PN owns and maintains the Viewing Platform located on the Cairns Cityport foreshore boardwalk. The viewing platform consists of a timber boardwalk supported on steel framing supported over water on 4 driven steel piles. The steel framing and the top portion of the steel piles are corroding above the waterline and the existing protective coatings require repair. The works being tendered include surface preparation and application of paint coatings to approximately 70 lineal meters of steel sections of varying sizes and 4 pile tops. The viewing platform is located in a public boardwalk area adjacent to hotels and apartments. Safety, methodology and programming will be critical to the successful delivery of the project. The works will require provision of appropriate access and environmental controls for works in the tidal zone. Ports North invites tenders from suitably qualified and available Contractors, with appropriate experience in the preparation for, and application of, high quality marine paint systems for the delivery of this project. |
