Tender Overview

The Department of Education (DoE) is calling for tender submissions for the design and construction of a new two level classroom and sub-shop building and the refurbishment of 4 science rooms at Kelvin Grove State College, located at L'Estrange Terrace, Kelvin Grove Qld 4059 as part of the Emergent Minimal Requirement (EMR) program.

The new building is to be excavated into a rock embankment and split over two levels, negating the requirement for a lift. The small footprint of the building, relocation of services at limited site access make this a challenging project. The second part of the project is to refurbish four different areas in Block A and C and convert these into science labs and flexible science space. Blocks A and C are heritage listed and will be refurbished / upgraded to meet current education standards. Design drawings have been developed with the building contractor required to complete the design and construction of the facilities in separable portions. The works are to commence in the December school holidays and handed over in stages with all works are to be completed by 14 April 2021.

Tender submissions will be accepted from contractors that meet the following requirements:

  • Appropriate QBCC Builders licences to undertake the entire scope of works
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance to the value of $ 1,000,000
  • Have certified 3rd Party Quality Assurance, and
  • Minimum PQC Level 2

Minimum PQC Level 2 Eligibility required.

Where a PQC Level is stated, the Principal is not obliged to provide tender documents, consider or accept a tender unless the tenderer is appropriately registered under the Queensland Government's PQC System for that PQC Level (or higher) and categories for which the tender is invited.

QBCC Licensing and Professional Indemnity Insurance (Delete if Not Required)

It is anticipated that a minimum of a QBCC (Low Rise) builders’ licence will be required for this project. Contractors are required to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance in accordance with the contract.
