Section 1

Tender Overview

The Queensland Water Modelling Network (QWMN) has been led by the Department of Environment and Science (DES) in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, with key links across industry, research and government.  Launched in 2017, the QWMN is a Queensland Government initiative to improve the state’s capacity to model the quantity and quality of its surface water and groundwater resources.  It provides the tools, information and collaborative platforms to support best-practice use of water models, and the uptake of their results by policy makers and decision-makers and natural resource managers.

The QWMN is broadening its engagement with the research and private sectors, with the long term intent of partnering with utilities, other governments and the natural resource management (NRM) community.

Recognising the strong skill set that lies outside government in both water modelling, engagement and facilitation, and the opportunities to strengthen collaborative partnerships, the Queensland Government is seeking to procure services to design and deliver an integrated capability and capacity development program for the QWMN.
