Section 1

Tender Overview

The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (formerly the Department of Housing and Public Works) is working with several community housing providers (CHPs) across South East Queensland to source suitable properties and provide supportive tenancy management.
The affordable housing funding is expected to provide for approximately 55 – 65 properties in high need South East Queensland locations, primarily Brisbane and Gold Coast, as well as Moreton Bay and other locations to be identified.
Dedicated Mobile Support
To support clients transitioning into these tenancies, the Queensland Government is seeking offers for the delivery of targeted mobile support.
Implementation Status – Gold Coast
Funding to CHPs to facilitate head leases and provide tenancy management is being rolled out in a staged process. Initially, the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy has contracted Community Housing (Qld) Limited to undertake this work, facilitating 7 head leases. Further funds will be rolled out for the CHP to facilitate a further 5 head leases, likely to commence by February 2021.
It is expected the new mobile support provider will take on a primary support role for most women and their children housed through the initiative. This means the new worker/s providing support will build their caseload as the CHPs accept referrals and source head leases.
At 30 November, 5 referrals have been accepted from existing funded shelters. Initial head leases are in train, likely to be in place by 31 December.
