Section 1

Tender Overview

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (the Department) is seeking Expression of Interests from interested Aquaculture or Aquarium enterprises for the transfer of captive ex-broodfish Cobia (Rachycentron canadum).

  • There are 10 ex-broodfish Cobia available, including 6 males (5 – 20 kg, up to 118 cm in length) and 4 females (20 - 30 kg, up to 146 cm in length).  All fish are between 4-5 years old.
  • Successful bidder/s must organise and pay for logistics (removal and transport), relevant biosecurity tests, and any quarantining..
  • The ex-broodfish Cobia are not suitable for human consumption.
  • All fish are acclimated to indoor culture environments.
  • All fish are tame and feed from hand. Strong exhibition potential.
  • The Department acknowledges that all reasonable steps have been taken to ensure that the supplied Cobia are free from disease and in good health and are provided in good faith.
  • The successful bidder/s must have the necessary Aquaculture or relevant wildlife exhibitor licences (or prepared to obtain such a licence) to hold such species on their own premises.
  • The successful bidder/s will be required to enter into an “Agreement for the Transfer of Goods” with the Department before or on the date of removal.
  • The fish will need to be removed from the Department’s facility by COB 30 May 2021.
  • Bidders will need to complete the attached Bidders Declaration and questionnaire and the successful bidder/s will be selected based on your responses to those questions.
