Skills for Queensland – Great training for quality jobs (the Skills Strategy) is the Queensland Government’s plan to secure our future prosperity through a skilled and adaptive workforce. It aims to address the growing imperative to equip all working-aged Queenslanders with skills that meet the current and future needs of the labour market right across the state.
The Skills Strategy identifies new and enhanced industry engagement arrangements to strengthen collaboration between government, industry, employers and other training sector stakeholders. These enhanced arrangements will more effectively contribute to government priority setting, target regional and small business employment priorities and foster a better understanding of the skills opportunities.
Industry advisory arrangements are a key component of the Skills Strategy and industry engagement framework. The Industry Skills Advisors (ISAs) support the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training’s (DESBT) industry engagement and provide advice on:
- current and emerging industry direction, regional skills needs and training solutions, jobs growth and employment opportunities for the vocational education and training (VET) supported workforce;
- effectiveness and suitability of DESBT’s current VET investment programs;
- implementation of the Queensland VET Quality Framework; and
- National VET reform agenda and the review and development of training package product.
The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) is seeking expressions of interest from organisations that have the knowledge, experience and capacity to perform the activities of an ISA for the Department on behalf of industry for two identified industry sectors.
Proposals will be evaluated based on response to the criteria identified in Section 3 of this EOI. One or more Respondents may be contacted for further information and/or interview or may be invited to enter into a service agreement based on the information provided within its response to this EOI.
Note: This opportunity is open to all Queenslanders, industry organisations, business owners and current business operators that are based in, or have Queensland headquarters, and have significant Queensland operations.
