Tender Overview |
---|
Due to the historic issues related to uncontrolled release of acid mine drainage (AMD), the Principal has recently completed civil works to upgrade the Seepage Catchment Dam (SCD), constructed a new embankment, and constructed a diversion drain along the north-eastern side of the mine pit catchment area. The Principal wishes to further reduce the release of AMD into the downstream environment by installing an appropriately designed pump back system to draw down the recently upgraded storages. The embankments have been designed to allow overflow of runoff during storms then capture the most concentrated portion of the AMD as the rainfall and runoff recedes. The objective of the pumping system is to draw down the storages when inflows have reduced to lessen the probability that following storms will transfer the high concentration AMD into the downstream environment. The pumps may also be used to pre-emptively draw down the storages before a storm is predicted to occur to reduce the presence of AMD that could be washed downstream during the storm. The pumping system is to be designed to draw water from the New Embankment Dam and Seepage Catchment Dam (SCD) and discharge into the open cut pit. These proposed pipelines may be changed before the design is finalised. The complete contract requirement are specified in appendix 1-4. |
