Forward Procurement Notification: Commercial Marina Opportunity for Carter’s Basin will be released for public tender in January 2024
The Spit’s natural amenity and recreation opportunities make it a popular destination for both residents and visitors. In addition to accommodation offerings, The Spit is home to tourism businesses catering to both local and international markets.
In response to the growing need for commercial marina facilities on the Gold Coast, the State Government, in partnership with the City of Gold Coast, has identified a parcel of land and water in Carter’s Basin, to be released to market to provide opportunities for marine tourism businesses. A map showing an indicative area is attached. Please note this is indicative only and may be subject to change as required.
The market process, opening on 22 January 2024 and closing on 4 March 2024 will seek development proposals which respond to The Spit Master Plan outcomes envisaged for the area. Master Plan outcomes include Carters Basin continuing to accommodate the local fishing fleet and renewal and reorganisation of the facilities associated with the fishing fleet, enabling the daily catch to be sold direct to the public in a convenient and ordered manner.
The site release will also seek a commercial marina and associated land side facilities, predominantly catering to commercial and marine tourism outcomes, within a mixed-use development, including a hard lift loading/unloading capability.
